A Moment of Devotion

Everyday I wake up at 6:30am and head to the gym taking Blajat road through Messila. Today I was in the mood and woke up early at 5:30am. On my way to the gym there's a road diversion right after Beda'a traffic circle (MPW road development) diverting all cars in and out beach side parking lots.

As soon as I entered Pizza Hut's parking I noticed something near the beach. There was a guy holding his hands up in the sky. I parked and tried to concentrate. Not so odd at first sight but then I realized this guy is in a deep spiritual moment. He did not move a single muscle for over 10 minutes. Something I have never seen in public.

Strictly coincidence, I had my camera with me and I took some photos. I couldn't get close to him but my trusty SAL18200 lens did a great job...

BodyBuilding 101

Today I was working out in the gym minding my own business when a very-well-built guy comes close asking when I'm going to finish from this machine, I told him I have one last round. He said "ok" and took a few steps back. Before I started my last round a skinny guy (A) approaches the first guy (B) and they had this short conversation...

A: Hi *****, how are you?
B: Fine. How are you?
A: Fine. I want to ask you something.
B: Sure.
A: I want you to recommend something for power.
B: All you need is Protein and Amino Acid.
A: Which ones?
B: *Naming brands*
A: Ok, thanks!
B: Sure, no problem.

Ok now that's wrong. Mr. B here is acting smart. He thinks he's right where all he did is give a wrong advice to Mr. Power Desperate. Simply... If you don't know sh!t then don't pretend you know everything.

I'll tell you what's wrong. I have studied this crap for 2 years out of 4 in college, I know I hadn't been a good student at college but I loved this specific subject, and it happens to be my graduation paper. I'll try to explain as simple as possible...

  • Proteins: You need protein to gain muscle. Proteins work on building up muscle tissues and extending current tissues. It gives you a very small portion of power to work out but all the rest of the power is saved to break down the protein into your body. More protein = more muscle = more space for ATP to be stored in the muscle = Power.

"Proteins = Muscle growth and power on the long run."

  • Amino Acids: The main use of amino acids is to help with protein synthesis and work on distributing proteins in the whole body and saving itself in the liver for later when any muscle needs to absorb more proteins. Amino Acids give you power but it's not the power you can count on for more bursts and exerts, the main use of its power is to break down protein molecules into the muscle.

"Amino Acids = Shaping up the body and getting all the use out of proteins"

  • Creatine: The easiest source for straight power. Muscles need to break ATP (Adenosine Tri-Phosphate) into ADP (Adenosine Di-Phosphate) for power. Creatine works on providing more ATP for the body which means more power.

"Creatine = More power storage in the muscles."

  • Anabolic Steroids: The most efficient (but less secure) way for gaining power and muscle. Steroids are part of testosterone hormone. It gives the body rapid ability to gain strength and muscle.

"Anabolic Steroids = Fastest way to build up your body but the consequences are unpredictable, mostly hazardous."

  • Verdict: There's nothing like pure muscle. As long as you eat the right food and exercise on daily basis there's no need to take any of this.

UPDATE: "Muscles build as they are being repaired. You can have all the protien (etc..) and it won't do any good if you're not actually exerting any force and then taking the time to rest." --3baid

    Operation Rehabilitation | Week 3

No improvement this week, the exact same amount of shishas as last week (4), but overall it is way better than week one.

Don't consider these as excuses... I had the chance to skip smoking two shishas but I was weak and I gave in.

    Situation 1:-
A friend (foreigner) is here on a visit and he wanted to go for shisha. I couldn't say No and I couldn't resist seeing him smoking and I'm not.

    Situation 2:-
Stuck at the airport waiting for my brother from 8:30pm till 11:30pm. I had to smoke. Blame it on the delay.

The other two were smoked willingly.

As promised I have not gone over last week's count and hopefully this week I'll narrow it even more.

    Wish me luck.

    Match Review | Germany 2 - 1 England

It's funny because England played and Germany won. Let's say ball possession was 75% England, 25% Germany.

Lampard translated a fine solo-play by Micah Richards on the right side of the field placing the ball inches between Lehmann and the goal post.

Later on, Kevin Kuranyi was lucky to be in the right place at the right time as Schneider crossed the ball from the right side directly towards the goal when Robinson was a few steps away and couldn't catch the ball, it fell right in front of Kuranyi who had no problem placing it safely in the goal.

Few minutes later, Germany pulled their best team work effort in the game where Hitzlsperger, Lahm, Schneider, and Pander played short passes before the latter literally BLAST* the ball from almost 30 meters into the upper left corner of Robinson's goal, marking one of the finest goals I have ever seen.

Both teams had chances to score some more goals (England for the most part) but neither had a good finish.

PS for Mooch: I know you're British but I don't know whether you're English or not. If you are then sorry mate. So much for the new Wembley, eh? :P

    - BAYERN MUNICH

It's really funny to see Bayern winning while Real Madrid and Manchester United get flushed down on their own ground. Bayern won against Werder Bremen by 4 goals twice in one month. [Goals]

    Operation Rehabilitation | Week 2+

Week 2 of Operation Rehabilitation was irritating not because I haven't had my weekly doze of shishas, but because I was sick in bed for three days.

I don't get sick often but when I do I get knocked down for good. I had no sense of time, no sense of place, and no mental stability during the past hectic days of illness. I have watched The Exorcism of Emily Rose which consequently made me see and feel crazy stuff with my weak state of mind during sickness.

I have also watched Lord of War, Collateral, Apocalypto, Lucky Number Sleven, Saw III, Crash, American History X, Bourne Identity, Bourne Supremacy, and went to see Bourne Ultimatum at the cinema yesterday to move my numb body. (Was about to review all three of them but cece beat me to it.) *MCA MCA MCA!!!*

Anyways, back to my shisha addiction and Operation Rehab... 4 shishas in one week. Isn't that something or what? From 15 last week to 4 this week, I think I will manage to keep the counter blank starting this week. One thing's for sure, I will not exceed the amount of last week's shishas.

    Yet again, wish me luck.

I'll leave you with Bourne Ultimatum ending song. Cece shared the older version so here's the new one.

    Operation Rehabilitation | Week 1

Ok, most of you have noticed my counter during the first week of Operation Rehabilitation and were wondering whether I'm serious about quitting shisha, well don't worry. I am being honest to you and myself and I'll do my best to quit.

Week 1 of rehab was intended to see how many shishas I have in one week. I never forced myself to quit, I lived my normal daily routine to stand on the approximate number of shishas I would have in one week and to be honest I am shocked as much as you are. Yes. I had 15 shishas in 7 days. That's slightly above 2 shishas per day!

I'm not just killing myself with it, I'm ripping my pockets as well. I spent almost +20KD only on shisha. That's almost 100KD a month to kill myself!

After knowing all these quick stats all I can think of is doing anything to quit before it's really too late.

That means this week is the actual start of rehab. Added to the counter you'll see a red line, any icons below the line means I've smoked during rehab. I'll try my best to keep it as clean as it is right now.

    Wish me luck.

    Operation Rehabilitation

    Objective: Quit shisha.

Duration: Tne <-- (typo)| Two months.

    Last shisha I had:-
    Friday. August 3, 2007 @ 5PM.

    Reason: [link]

First I'll try to ease up on it, like once a week instead of once/twice a day, then hopefully quit for good. If it works, all credit goes to Navy Girl. If it doesn't, well, nothing changes. My life goes back as it was.

    " --rekoo

I have added a new counter below the Mac switchers count. That'll keep you up-to-date with how many shishas I have smoken during rehabilitation.
