Earlier this month I have posted that I'm willing to learn the basics of the Unix system [
link] and I have ordered a book from
Amazon to get me started. Well, the book arrived yesterday and it looks nice. I have skimmed through chapters to check my mood if I would go through this book or not and now I'm sure I will end it in a matter of days though hopefully I would come out with something good.
The book is called "
Learning the UNIX Operating System" by Jerry Peek, Grace Todino-Gonguet and John Strang. It is published by
O'Reilly Media, Inc. and it's the fifth and latest edition of its series. With less than 160 pages of simple examples, explicated commands and a quick reference guide, this book offers more than what I could ask for.
Now I know this book won't make me a professional Unix user but at least it will enlighten me about a lot of things regarding my Mac and its applications, it also contains useful command lines and exercises to help with troubleshooting some of the common problems so it's all good.
Crazy? No.
