School wall demolished over two cars

No matter how bad your day is, just look at this and be thankful.

A wall of a school under reconstruction, apparently demolished from the inside out, was taken down over two cars early this morning. The only casualties were that Porsche Boxter and VW Passat CC.

The "D" Sticker Story

Long story short, I filled a Benzin car with Diesel thanks to that sticker.

Being the auto enthusiast I am I've always thought I know almost everything about cars, however, not knowing what this little sticker stands for got me cornered for two days in Europe!

You see, for years and years I recall seeing these stickers on cars everywhere around the world even here in Kuwait. When I started liking things to do with cars I used to ask myself what this is and how it works and go look for it but those stickers were available way before my only knowledge resource, the internet, that's when I used to ask my parents, older brothers or friends regarding automotive inquiries and guess what? I've been told the "D" stands for "Diesel"! I remember every time I asked about those stickers I get the same answer so I took it for granted.

Now my unfortunate story starts here in Kuwait when I booked a "DIESEL" car online. The contract was "Opel Astra -or- similar". I flew to Germany to see the car I booked wasn't available therefore I got the "similar" car which was Seat Leon with the so-called "DIESEL" sticker. I drove all the way from Munich to Rust (about 4 hours drive) then after a couple of days I went out from Rust to Geneva (another 4 hours drive). On my way out the tank was half full from the first trip so I parked in a gas station, refill the car with DIESEL, and continue my journey. The moment I went out of that gas station I knew something was wrong, the car barely reached 100km/h. The 4 hours trip became 6 hours though I was lucky enough to reach Geneva before it died!

From there I was stuck in Geneva for two days going back and forth to resolve this issue with the rental company. I got leeched a couple of hundred KDs for that matter. I'm not happy but I caused this and I deserve it for not knowing better.

One piece of knowledge I got from this experience is... "It's acceptable to put Diesel in a Benzin car than putting Benzin in a Diesel car." Thank you Mr. Mechanic but I don't think I'll be doing fuel mixing anymore.

Spotted in Geneva

Who ever those guys are, they're living life to the fullest. Driving all the way from Kuwait to the far west of Europe is something I envy them for. Unfortunately I wasn't able to meet them.

I've always wanted to go a long road trip traveling around with nothing but beautiful landscapes (I kinda did this summer but that's not the story) though it needs a decent budget, strong will, good planning, and a couple of brave team members.

I wish them all the best of luck and hope to see some updates about their journey.

Ferrari California Accident

I came across a weird accident yesterday. Around 3PM I was heading to Salmiya when I passed Salwa x Rumaithiya junction, on the U-turn there was a red Ferrari California with a broken rear wheel. There were no other cars involved, it also appears that the car did not hit a curb or anything, the rim was intact but detached from the vehicle.

Unfortunately I wasn't able to take photos so if anyone knows what happened please tell the story.

AND NO THIS IS NOT APRIL FOOLS' JOKE

Shout Out

I would like to send out the biggest and loudest curse in the whole universe to the BMW 730Li driver (License plate 246999) at Mishref Co-op for delaying me on one of my busiest days ever by parking with almost zero clearance and about 30cm from my door making me unable to squeeze myself in, and also for making me look stupid jumping from passenger seat to driver seat after waiting for +15 minutes without her showing up.

We have said this a million times before and I concur once again; women cannot drive and probably never will be able to drive properly, except some odds. They should be locked up in the trunk and a male driver takes them from point A to B.

DISCLAIMER:

Some people were questioning my credibility and I how I knew it was a woman without seeing her in person. Well I have stated in my first comment to my fellow friend iNoor that there was a scarf on the seat and women gloves on the center console. How is that for a fact?

Airport Graveyard?

Here's a pitiful scene from Kuwait airport parking lot. Looks like airport authorities finally decided to get rid of "prolonged" Long Term Parking junk and, instead of towing them out of the parking, they disposed them on the top floor of the parking building. So much for logistics.

Strictly coincidence, fellow blogger Hitman1 posted something related today as well. [link]

Regarding Mustang Police Patrol

Everybody knows by now that we might get* Mustang police patrols here in Kuwait alongside the Charger patrols in Q1 2009.

Recently there has been a lot of encounters with the car and media revolving around the blogsphere from youtube videos to forum photo-entries made it somehow exciting.

To me though, it's sheer madness and a stupid move by MOI. Why?

  • We rarely have police pursuits, the BMW and Charger would do just fine in those rare occasions.

  • The car comes modified with a twin-screw Whipple supercharger. I don't think any of our patrol cops have the ability to handle such a beast in a pursuit.

  • Most our patrol cops are reckless and arrogant and would probably abuse this car. Their actions and stupid accidents speak for themselves.

  • This will make some thoughtless sport car drivers and bikers more reckless hoping to encounter the patrol car and actually outrun it.

  • (UPDATE)*: Our police patrols are not allowed to pursuit motorbikes and buggies, the maniac masters of law-breaking. This law was enforced a few years back to prevent road rage and chaotic situations.

That's my perspective. I don't think there's a single good to this deal.

Videos of the car: Cruising - Parked (interior shots)

* Still under testing, not official to join the fleet just like the Audi A6.
* Thanks to Bashar for reminding me of that point.

2009 Nissan 370z

The new Nissan 370z. Ugly from the outside and astonishing from the inside.

350z will keep holding its ground against this one looks-wise, but engine-wise... Let's see what the VQ37VHR engine has to offer. The 370z chassis is shorter than the 350z meaning we could see some engine swaps here and there.

Happy my car will have some dignity left for it. :)

More MacBook Pro news and expectations

According to ComputerWorld.com writer Seth Weintraub new MacBook Pros and maybe MacBooks will hit the market somewhere between mid October, predictably the 14th (give or take a few weeks).

He has listed some expectations on the MBP and what it might get equipped with. [link]

Some are amazing features like that OLED keyboard but I highly doubt we'd see it on next generation MBPs. Even if it's true it would probably be optional and costs a lot.

Another interesting topic about Wireless USB hub. [link]

Now that would be really nifty.

Bad luck?

His name is Jerman, he's Dutch, he plays pro indoor football/soccer... and I happened to play against him in bo-5amseen tournament.

Our team reached a good point in that tournament then we had to face BMW team where Mr. Dutchman plays. At first I didn't know who the *censored* is Jerman. Everybody kept telling me to watch out from him and be cautious and stuff... I did not give a damn. That's where I learned the hard way. In simple words "I got OWN3D". :/

Quest Club

Here is a simple theory on QuestNet vs. Fight Club...

Now I'm sure a lot of you have heard about Quest.net communities worldwide. Based on network marketing, Questnet is basically "spreading the word and getting money for doing so". Just like Biznass and Emperor Dinar but that's not the point...

Lately there have been groups here in Kuwait making advantage of this so-called business by getting together and forming a bond between their "tree members". They have formed some kind of underground community just like Fight Club and they have rules for that too.

Like Fight Club the first rule "Never talk about Fight Club", here the first rule is "Never talk about the business in front of anybody". The second rule in the movie is "Never Talk About Fight Club" *emphasis*, second rule in Quest Club is "Always Talk About Quest"... Erm, how is that possible conflicting with the first rule?

The third rule in the movie is "If this is your first day then you have to Fight", in Quest Club the third rule is "If this is your first day you have attend training". Training for brain-mass-destruction and how to spam people around you.

The last rule I recall in Fight Club people take off their clothes, except their pants of course, to conceal their background (rich, poor.. etc.)... in Quest Club you're ought to wear formal clothes also to conceal your background and give the best impression for the business "Dress to impress!".

And last but not least one of the funniest things ever, in the movie Edward Norton and Brad Pitt succeeded in making a strong group of loyal followers who would do anything without asking why. Here in Quest Club they have a motto that says "Shut-up, Listen, Do". In other words do what you're told to do without asking why! Damn it.

I'd rather die waiting to win Al-Jawhara million before being part of those stray followers.

My cellphone number jumped from 200KD to a fine 1000KD, or even more, with the latest 8 digit upgrade. I love it. :)

And that's about all. Hopefully new MacBook Pros will be out soon so I can start blogging on regular basis like I used to.

Peace and out.

2009 Infinity FX50

The first thing you spot about this new model is that as much as it looks appealing it's not really that good looking. The older model had that brutal look up it's front but in this they have worked too hard to make it look atrocious though the only thing they have managed to bring out of it is Moomin look-a-like SUV.

Without its 21-inch wheels this Moomin wouldn't even be categorized as a SUV. It sits very low to the ground and with a longer wheelbase than the X5 and Cayenne I doubt it's 4WD is of any convenience for off-roading.

On the other hand, however, this peaceful Moomin is not really as peaceful when it comes to digits; this hippo hides a 390HP 5.0L V8 engine (fuel efficiency is a sad story). 0-100kph in 5.2 seconds just a tad slower than Cayenne Turbo. Sportier yet very classy interior than BMW X6 makes the FX50 the best yet most ugly SUV to buy.

On Porsche and Art

Got a new Porsche and don't know what else to do with it other than driving around? Sick of it already? Then check this outrageous video and you might get an idea of what to do with it next.

Daily Deviation !

My BMW 335i vector/vexel has been featured as a Daily Deviation on DeviantArt! It's not a big deal but it boosted my ego and I'm glad to know there are people interested in my Photoshop scribbles.

"The Daily Deviation is a daily staff feature chosen from the galleries here on deviantART.

A small assortment of submissions is chosen each day by a select group of staff members who wish to showcase an image which they found impressive or otherwise interesting enough to deserve being brought to the attention of the community-at-large."
