It's not the first and definitely won't be the last site of its kind but the design and simple layout of this amazing flash site makes it stand out. Check out FlashEarth.
Also don't miss other projects from the designer Paul Neave located on the top menu, they're really impressive.

No, because it's proprietary and doesn't run natively.
